Meritel Group
has become TechSoup Member
Meritel Group as a member of TechSoup Organization Member
offers with onsite, remote, network, LAN/WAN, web development,
VoIP and security support solutions to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.
Mission:
TechSoup is a comprehensive information source and conduit that enables nonprofits to make appropriate, cost-effective technology decisions that increase their ability to serve their missions..
Background:
CompuMentor is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to
help other nonprofits find and adopt the technology they need
to more effectively serve their constituents. CompuMentor
has been around since 1987 helping nonprofits and schools
with a mentor-matching program and hands-on consulting help
in the Bay Area and currently have more than 110 staff members
and an annual budget of about $13.5 million.
Nonprofit workers, most of them "accidental
techies," don't have time to search for nonprofit-relevant
technology information, which is scattered all over the Web.
To simplify that search, CompuMentor, a nonprofit technology
provider based in the Bay Area, drew on its many years of
experience in giving technology advice and guidance to create
a nonprofit tech portal: TechSoup. TechSoup, along with its
TechSoup Stock technology product donation distribution service,
has helped CompuMentor expand its services to tens of thousands
nonprofits in the U.S. and around the globe.
Who We Are:
Five years ago, TechSoup was launched (www.techsoup.org),
which hosts an online magazine, discussion forums, events
calendar, free downloads database, and other resources --
all geared towards helping nonprofits make better technology
decisions.
TechSoup is now embarking on a grand initiative
to redesign and expand their site, content, and services with
innovative technologies in order to better serve the nonprofit
community. TechSoup is also reaching beyond the original U.S.
audience and forming partnerships and relationships with non-governmental
organizations all around the world.
Goal :
The goal of the TechSoup project is to provide a single point
of entry through which individual nonprofits can access the
technical information now present on the Web. TechSoup catalogs,
editorializes and presents in a straightforward manner the
enormous volume and range of this information which otherwise
would overwhelm and mystify nonprofit managers and staff.
Features:
The six main feature areas are:
Technology-focused
How-To Articles.
A
Complete Services Directory.
Online
Community Discussions.
Technology
and Nonprofit News and Views.
Donated
and Discounted Products at TechSoup Stock.
Free
Downloads, Recycled Hardware Providers and other product resources.
Importance:
TechSoup.org offers nonprofits one-stop shopping for their
technology needs. While TechSoup is aimed at small to midsize
nonprofits, staff from larger nonprofits will find useful
information available as well. This site features a large
collection of articles, guides, resources, worksheets, newsletters,
and offers interaction and collaboration through its message
boards. It also provides DiscounTech, a distributor of donated
and discounted technology products and services. Our product
philanthropy service, TechSoup Stock, is open to all qualified
501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.
