product knowledge and technical expertise is offered, along
with industry leading network solutions, in order to serve
best for the client’s network needs. We enable Cisco
and Meritel Group Customer successes by driving technology
changes through our partnership.
History :
Cisco Systems was founded in December 1984 by two members
of Stanford's computer support staff: Len Bosack, who was
in charge of the computer science department's computers,
and Sandy Lerner, who managed the Graduate School of Business'
computers. Cisco was to become one of the nation's fastest
growing companies by providing the networking equipment that
connected the Internet.
Cisco created the first commercially successful multi-protocol
router to allow previously incompatible computers to communicate
using different network protocols. Today, Cisco's largest
routers are marketed to route primarily IP packets and MPLS
frames.
Cisco is one of America's greatest corporate success stories.
Since shipping its first product in 1986, the company has
grown into a global market leader that holds No. 1 or No.
2 market share in virtually every market segment in which
it participates. Since becoming a public company in 1990,
Cisco's annual revenues have increased from $69 million in
that year to $12.2 billion in fiscal 1999. As measured by
market capitalization, Cisco is among the largest in the world.
Cisco employs approximately 26,140 employees worldwide. Cisco
sells its products in approximately 115 countries through
a direct sales force, distributors, value-added resellers
and system integrators. Cisco has headquarters in San Jose,
CA. It also has major operations in Research Triangle Park,
NC, and Chelmsford, MA; as well as more than 225 sales and
support offices in 75 countries.
